There is so much about me that I want to share with you!
Hello! Steffie Mama here… Oh wait, I mean Steffie Martin! 😍
It’s hard work remembering and behaving like we still are the people we were before we had babies.
I always wanted to have children. Growing up I grabbed every opportunity to babysit so I could show my love for kids and practice for when I’d have my own.
So much so that I ended up working as a nanny for the best part of 10 years. In a way, it came as a surprise to many people around me when I took the job.
I am an adventurous person. I like to try new things and I definitely love the adrenaline rush.
This doesn’t scream “Ok, nanny job it is then!”. 😂
This is one of my favourite quotes!
You get in life, what you have the courage to ask for.”Oprah Winfrey
As time went on, I got qualified as a personal trainer and soon after started my first business in property management.
I met my partner at the business course I did to learn how to start/run my own business. I never had an office job and I don’t think that will ever be my thing.
We hit it off straight away and we’ve been together for 8 years. Our son is 2 now and I can hardly believe it!!
He is such a blessing to us and our families. I can’t stop thinking about what an amazing little boy he is and how I can make his life more fun and enjoyble.
Having a little girl (when we decide to try for a baby again) would make our family complete (and even more amazing!).
Raising a child is one of the most important and meaningful jobs we do as parents.
When we decided to have a baby, I realised just how much more I needed to learn so I started reading about it.
All the research I did, did not prepare me for becoming a mum for the first time.
It has given me insights into how it might be and information on how to handle many situations, but it did not come close to the full experience of actively preparing for getting pregnant, being pregnant for the best part of a year, giving birth, holding my newborn baby for the first time and then being responsible for this little person’s wellbeing for the foreseeable future!
Motherhood has been the most significant journey I embarked on.
I loved my pregnancy and I am so grateful for all the women who shared theirs so that I and other women could learn from them. That was the only way for me to make the most of it.
Giving birth was slightly different, but nevertheless amazing. I’ll tell you that story in the blog 😉.
Our son was born right before the first lockdown which changed pretty much everything. It made me reevaluate my life and made me focus on what truly matters to me.
This blog is one of the things that came as a result.
I’ve always been focused on the deep, meaningful side of things, doing things right and doing the right things.
After having our little boy, I got very good at prioritising. From having so many hours in the day that I could occupy however I wanted, all of a sudden I had a lot less time that wasn’t accounted for by him and his wellbeing.
Slowly I started feeling more and more secure within and learnt how to manage my time better. This was key for me to be able to start doing things that would feed and nourish my soul as Steffie and not just Mummy.
I always admired bloggers. I found blogging a bit more special than other careers for some reason. Perhaps because it inspires me freedom and independence.
I’m really grateful for taking action and going for this dream of becoming a blogger myself.
I invite you to come along for the ride and I wish for your dreams to come true as well!
